I know it's been a while but I've been busy with life and stuff so please don't be mad at me.
I really am going to try and do blog posts more frequently, as I really enjoy doing them.
Sometimes it is hard to find topics that are interesting enough to write about, but I'm sure I could write about the colour of the sky and someone out there will find it interesting.
Excuses aside, here's another: I have been ill this week.
The flu hit me Saturday morning. I was laying in bed, watching some of my favourite YouTubers (including my newest video: link above ;) ) when all of a sudden a truck hit me square in the face.
This truck of course being a metaphor for disease.
So, after wallowing in my own sorrow for the last 4 days, I have compiled a list of things I o when I'm sick that help make me feel better. Remedies, I suppose.
Please refer to this list the next time you are feeling poorly, or someone you know is feeling poorly, or you would just like to laugh at my own misfortune.
BEGIN!
- DRINK LOTS OF TEA.
It is best to use real lemons and ginger, but if you don't have those ingredients on hand, or you're feeling too sick to go to the effort of cutting and grinding, Twinings make a fantastic lemon and ginger infusion tea, which you just soak in hot water and remove after a few minutes, like a normal tea bag.
The lemon and ginger really help to break down the mucus in your throat and clear your sinuses, and the honey leaves you a nice, warm coating on your throat so it's less painful to eat, sleep and breathe.
2. BLOW YOUR NOSE... A LOT!
This is something that should be really obvious, but so many people neglect.
I have singlehandedly gone through four boxes of tissues since Saturday night, and I can't stress the importance of this step.
It may be very gross, and everything about it is downright horrible, but if you sniffle and sniffle and sniffle, eventually the mucus in your nose will clog all your sinuses which can cause ear infections, which are NOT a fun time whatsoever.
Bring a handkerchief or small packet of tissues with you wherever you go, and don't be scared to just let it all out. It really helps.
3. SLEEP, SLEEP, SLEEP!
Being sick is exhausting, so get as much sleep as you can! Not only does it feel amazing to be asleep a good 10 extra hours a day, it also kills time and allows your body to naturally reset. Your body in it's relaxation will fight the virus easier than if you were pushing yourself to do the things you normally would, like working, exercising or even running errands.
Plus, who doesn't love a good nap. Treat yourself.
4. HAVE A BATH.
Nobody deserves a LUSH spree like a sick person! Grab together some candles, your favourite bath bombs and bubble bars, make sure the water is almost too hot to handle and just relax! Let the heat make you sweat out your fever and relax your aching muscles!
I personally like to bring in my laptop, put on some YouTube video playlists (my favourite is http://youtube.com/user/shaaanxo), keep it away from the water - obviously - and don't get bored while just laying in a tub of water for half an hour or more!
5. TAKE MEDICINE.
If you can safely take cold and flu tablets, cough medicine and painkillers, I highly suggest you do so.
My all time favourite is Nurofen Zavance, as I get a lot of pain, especially headaches, when I'm ill.
I have also just tried Advil for the first time, and it is an absolute godsend for muscle pain. My teeth were so sore I couldn't move my mouth on my biggest day of sickness, until I took two Advil; they haven't ached since.
Medicines are specially formulated to target and attack whatever the virus is that you may carry, so don't disregard them!
I'm hoping to do some Autumn fashion type posts, along with makeup reviews of new products and just every day lifestyle type things.
